MK launched August 12th
On a very humid evening of Wednesday 12th August a dozen intrepid people turned up for the MK launch of TRF. As has become customary there was plenty of enjoyment and chatter during breaks, some laughter during the less challenging exercises and silence during the tougher elements! The feedback was excellent leading us to believe that MK can go on to become as popular as the other locations.
TRF launched on May 7th in Russell Park Bedford
On Thursday May 7th the first TRF session took place at Russell Park Bedford and a lot of smiling was seen (and giggling heard), despite the exertion taking place thus reinforcing our belief that training should be fun. It was also the official launch of the programme which is set to roll out during May and early June in Flitwick, Luton and MK. On May 11th the first Flitwick session took place with 16 males and females of all ages and abilities being put through their paces by head trainer Scottie Hills. Images of both sessions are on the gallery - click here.
Tikes launched May 10th in Flitwick
At the Rufus centre on Sunday May 10th the first Tikes (aged 4-6) session took place. After initial consternation amongst the youngsters they grasped the concept of being very involved in all the activities and really enjoyed doing various exercises and games. Feedback from parents has been increased confidence and catching skills after just one week ! As per the Fitness, the first session is free with a subsequent 6 week block costing £36 including a t-shirt and waterbottle or mini ball. For full details see the Tikes and Tigers sections of the website.
Luton launched on June 2nd
On Tuesday June 2nd at 6.30pm the first Luton based session took place in Stockwood Park. There were the (now customary) grimaces and smiles on display with some excellent feedback from the participants. We believe that once word spreads it will be a successful TRF venue. Enter via the main Farley Hill entrance and park in the car park immediately on the right. You will see the equipment setup and trainers on the adjacent part of the park from 6.15pm so finding us should not be difficult.
Schools to be included
There is no age discrimination at TRF and whilst our core market is to be adults we are looking forward to training teachers who will then deliver the programme to pupils. The exercises will be excellent core fitness for all students, regardless of which other sports they play and especially if they do not exercise a lot. The association of cool role models and playing of funky music will no doubt appeal to all children.
Merchandise to be available soon
A range of TRF merchandise ie water bottles, tees, kitbags etc will soon be available via partner www.MySport.uk.com which also currently provides such a service to London Welsh RFC.
TRF to assist economy
A major driving force behind the launch of TRF is to motivate people who do not currently undertake much exercise to get more active. This will provide one or more of the following : increased aerobic capacity, weight loss, increased self esteem, improved strength and reduce pressure on doctors and hospitals. In addition to the benefits for participants we will provide a host of new trainers with experience and skills which are very difficult to come by. As the programme rolls out opportunities to run a franchise will exist also.
